Here’s my honest review of the litter box. Sorry if this gets a bit lengthy! The litter box is one of the more budget-friendly options in the automatic category. However, it doesn’t recognize which cat used it, so with multiple cats, if one has a problem and another uses it immediately afterward, you won't know which cat has the health issue.

On the plus side, I really appreciate how easy it is for cats, especially seniors, to access. When it comes to cleaning and changing the litter, there are some clear pros and cons:

1. Cleaning is easy, and replacing litter is straightforward if you use the recyclable tray, but at $75, it’s quite pricey.

2. I wish there were more affordable tray options, maybe with no litter or reusable trays like other models offer. My cats didn’t like the crystal litter that came with it.

3. The noise during cleaning is extremely loud—quite disruptive if you sleep in the same room, as I do.

4. The bright light that activates when cats enter at night can be blinding, since cats have sensitive eyes. Petkit should consider adding dimmable lighting.

The good news is, you can turn off the light or schedule cleaning times so it doesn’t disturb you. However, you will get low video quality.

I turned off the light option and added a motion-activated nightlight with diffused lighting and dimming options. It works.

If Petkit could improve AI recognition to identify each cat (it's already in the other machines, so why not this one?), add a dimmable light, and offer a more affordable, reusable tray option, I’d be thrilled. Paying $75 for four trays, plus tax, is steep.

Fixing these issues would definitely earn this litter box a strong recommendation from me. I love Petkit products and really want to see these updates make this product even better.

Purobot Crystal Duo with Hood

Not good for more than one cat
To expensive to maintain litter container

I like the camera aspect of it and how it’s an open design and not covered, but I did not realize it was a subscription purchase. Had I known I would not have purchased the litter box

Bought my first purobot crystal duo about 3 weeks ago and was so impressed with it that I bought a second one a week later. I've always had the petsafe crystal litter box, but this duo raking works much better. Will try getting the purobot max(budget permitting) which I've heard is really good too.

I’ve had the purobot crystal duo for a couple of weeks now and I have to say it is much easier to deal with than the big smart litter boxes. I have two cats it’s easier to clean. I appreciate being able to just replace the whole bottom when the box needs replacing. Instead of having to clean all the stuck litter off the walls of the enclosed boxes or replacing the inside mat because it would get disgusting.

Not as advertised. Hard to clean, cumbersome, clunky. Expensive supplies.
Wouldn’t buy again.

The cats seem to like it, but I’m having trouble getting it to pair with my wi-fi network.

How can I use this? Please let me know

Love it! Working very well, Mr. Kitty loves and we do too! Way less litter sprinkles around the box compared to scooping.

Physical setup is very easy and straightforward. Getting the device to register on my WiFi network took several tries - it does not appear to be compatible with Unifi access points unless you disable the 5ghz radios (at least for initial setup, I have not tried turning them back on yet now that the device is online).

The cats took to it right away. One continues to use it all the time, the other is less fond of this box. I'm not sure if he got spooked by the automatic raking or if he just doesn't like the bright light that comes on. Seems to be gradually warming up to it again though. I'm impressed with how well the self cleaning clears waste and levels the litter.

The app is pretty good, but I do have some suggestions for improvement:
1. The phone doesn't seem to recognize video playback as video - the screen goes to sleep before videos get to the end.
2. The audio icon on videos is too far in the corner to actually tap - it seems to be stuck under the notification bar.
3. Although I've paid for one of the premium subscriptions, it doesn't activate immediately - I have to wait for the free trial to end before the better features kick in, which seems a bit odd.

Suggestions for the hardware (if you make a v2 of this product):
Swap the light and camera for an infrared / night vision version so it is less dazzling at night.
Improve compatibility with 5ghz and 6ghz wireless networks.

This product is life changing.

This is a really nice machine. I really like the simplicity and how it just seems to work. I have 7 cats, and while they have largely refused to use a much more expensive unit I purchased, this one with the open design they have used with no problems. The camera is very useful for me because I like to keep tabs on them. Time will tell of course how reliable it is, but at least for now, I am very happy with my purchase.

although this is my first experience with an automatic litter box, I’ve been impressed so far. It seems to be operating well and my two cats have acclimated well and seem to enjoy watching it clean the litter. The noise level is very low and it’s currently working as expected. The quality seems to be appropriate and have high hopes that the mechanics hold up over time.

Really love how clean it gets the litter box but the only complaint i have is it dosent set a timer to clean when the cat leaves the box like previous models

Easy setup. With only one cat, the maintenance is so easy.

This is the best automatic litter box ever!!! Stoney my boy kitty had stopped using our other automatic litter box and was using the carpet in one spot. Since getting this he’s back to using the litter box. He now expects to be praised every time he uses it. It’s hilarious! I have 3 of these because I have 3 cats and my house has never smelled better. I love that I never have to scrape the bottom of the litter box because you just take the whole thing out and throw it away.

This litter is super convenient and practically makes the litter box odorless. We had a problem with our old litter box (different brand) it would make whatever room smell despite us using a air purifier. This litter box does a great job! The only thing preventing me from giving this a 5 star is that you cannot buy the litter separate. You have to buy the litter trays that come with the litter crystals. Overall great product.

Due to some health issues earlier this year my boy cat was not using his old Petkit litter box he didn’t like stepping in with something over his head so he was using the same spot on our carpet. I got this new box and he was the first one to use it. Between the 3 cats and only having the one at the time they completely used all the litter in one week. Now that we have 3 of these set up for the 3 cats I’m hoping the litter will last longer. I’m just so excited that he’s no longer using the carpet. The only complaint I have is that I didn’t think to order 3 to start out with I only ordered 2. If you have cats this is THE BEST LITTER BOX I’ve ever had. If you have more than one cat get an extra box. If you have Maine coons get 3.

OK, well I don’t want to deal with changing of the box once a month so is actually not what I want. I’m going to return it.

We have 3 old cats who just did not like the enclosed boxes. We tried this one and success. Our oldest had to watch for awhile but now all are using and much easier for me. Love it. I like camera so I can check on cats so far great litter box, all of us are very happy with it.

I love the design and the camera. Very good product. It would be nice to have a metal tray. Even though you throw out the trays, for me I liked having that type. Also, the air purifier is amazing. Maybe, some other flavors would be nice.

I had really high hopes for this box! I had a littermaid for a decade and this one most closely resembles that one. My biggest issue is the crystal litter. It lasted exactly 6 days. I do have 2 cats -6mo and 1 yr. Both fixed males. The litter stunk so bad on the morning of day 7 that I went out and purchased more crystal litter. I had to clean out the base and reuse it because the refills are not available yet?! This will be a very expensive thing if the trays only last a week!

I originally purchased the PuraMax 2 and then quickly followed up with a PurRobot Max Pro since we are a multi cat family. Unfortunately, one of my three cats is 16 pounds and sadly he found both the PuraMax 2 and the Purobot Max Pro too confining. I very much like the convenience of not having to scoop several times a day but with one cat not acclimating well, I still had to scoop and maintain an old fashioned regular litter box. Then I saw the ad for the Purobot Crystal Duo so I pre ordered one. It arrived about 3 weeks ago and I’m happy to say that he uses that unit as if it was a regular litter box. Due to that success I’ve ordered a second one now. He doesn’t avoid the litter box now so everything seems as it should be.
