PuraMax Fence

It cuts down on kitty kicking litter outside of the box, but for the price, it should've been included with the unit.

Product does not do what was promised by customer service; waiting for return instructions.

One of my female cats has an issue with not fully entering the drum before "letting go". It probably doesn't help that she's 16+ pounds and finds it hard to turn around inside. So she ends up peeing outside, all over the floor and under the drum. Needless to say, it's a mess to clean up. So I thought I'd try the fence to see if it would assist her in keeping it all inside. All 5 of my cats had used the PuraMax prior to installing the fence and after installing the fence, none of them used it for a week. I had left one of their old boxes available and they all avoided the PuraMax for a week, until I removed the fence. I think the issue is the fence is too tall and greatly restricts the size of the opening, making it harder to climb over. So they quit using it. I seriously considered returning the PuraMax due to the amount of extra work her "mistakes" were causing, but I've worked around the problem for now by placing the PuraMax in a part of the house the large female doesn't visit. So now it's only used consistently by one of the cats (a 10 pound female). The other cats which had been willing to use the PuraMax before, now just simply stare at it when it "cycles". While I certainly looked forward to the ostensible time savings of an automated litter box, I'm not yet convinced they save any substantial labor, and if they do, you pay for it in extra consumables (bags, sprays, batteries). I can vouch for the fact the side of the house which has the PuraMax smells better than the side with the standard "open" litter boxes. So there's that.

Works great

After using for many months an Etsy-made makeshift fence, I decided to try this official fence by Petkit. Let me tell you, it's worth the money. It is well built, clamps properly to the ledge, very sturdy.

One of my cats is a little bigger boy and kept peeing on the edge which at times would make it through the gap. The fence makes him step a bit more inside which solves the issue.

This fixed one of my biggest issue with the Puramax. However this shouldn’t have been needed. If you have a cat the pees outside the box because they will not go all the way in then this is for you.

I used the pura X for 2-3 years. So my cats got used to the smaller opening, my female cat wasn’t going in far enough to use the pura x. This has helped get her to go further into the box.

My large orange cat loves to scoot litter out of the PuraMax and this put a stop to that! Highly recommend it.

That’s what the box was missing. The opening was too low and cat wasn’t comfortable doing it’s business inside, as she always likes to face outside. This provides a great support and kitty makes a lot less mess inside.
