Fresh to the Last Bite: How PETKIT Built a Wet Food Feeder Around Freshness

PETKIT Yumshare Daily Feast AI-powered automatic wet food feeder designed for absolute freshness

PETKIT has spent over a decade building technology around the everyday essentials of pet care, guided by the idea that technology should care about the small details of daily life, and few details matter more to a cat than whether its food is fresh. Wet food presents the ultimate challenge: it is the quickest-to-spoil meal a feeder can serve. Rich in moisture and quick to spoil once opened, it begins to change the moment it is exposed and keeps changing the longer it waits. FOODCHAIN X PETKIT Yumshare Daily Feast, developed with sister brand FOODCHAIN and backed by PETKIT’s technology, is the world’s first AI-powered wet food feeder, and it was designed to automate wet food without compromising freshness, from the moment a pouch is opened to the moment the bowl is cleared away.

Freshness, Engineered Into Every Stage of the Meal

A meal is never a single moment. It begins when food leaves the pouch, continues through the time it spends in the bowl, and only ends once the bowl has been cleared and the next meal is on its way, and each of those chapters carries its own risk to freshness. Yumshare Daily Feast answers each one with a protection of its own, so that freshness is not left to chance at any point and the last bite a cat takes is held to the same standard as the first.

At the Pouch: Fresh as It’s Served

Freshness starts before the food ever reaches the bowl, and it starts with knowing how long a pouch has been open. Every Pocket Feast pouch is recognized by NFC the moment it is loaded, and the feeder records the time it was opened and sends a reminder after 72 hours, so the freshness clock is kept by the feeder itself rather than by an owner’s memory, and a pouch is never served past its best.

From there, the journey to the bowl is guarded at every step, beginning with the pouch itself. The spout of each Pocket Feast pouch is fitted with a silicone outlet cut in a cross shape, a structure that helps seal the opening and keep food from dripping, so freshness is protected right at the point where the meal leaves the pouch. UVC sanitation then keeps the dispensing path clean, so each serving travels through a sanitized route. The result is a meal that moves from pouch to bowl without anyone having to touch it, arriving as fresh as the moment it left the pouch.

At the Bowl: Fresh While They Eat

Once the meal is ready, the lid opens to present it in a clean, food-grade disposable bowl, and it closes again when serving is done, keeping the dispensing area sealed whenever it is not in use. The care does not stop there, because wet food does not stay at its best for long once it is sitting out, and a cat may not finish a meal when its owner expects.

Yumshare Daily Feast therefore keeps watch over how long a serving has been waiting. When the freshness time is exceeded, the feeder retracts the bowl on its own, so that food which has been left too long is taken away before a cat can reach it. It is a decision the owner would normally have to make in person, now made at exactly the right moment, even when no one is home to make it.

After the Meal: Fresh for the Next One

Freshness depends on what is left behind as much as on what is served. When mealtime ends, the used disposable bowl is cleared away and recycled automatically, taking any leftovers with it, and because the biodegradable bowls are replaced as a complete set, every meal arrives in a fresh bowl rather than one carrying the remains of the last.

With nothing to rinse, scrub, or scrape in between, each meal begins from a clean slate, and the freshness that was protected from pouch to bowl carries seamlessly into the next serving.

Hydration in Every Meal

Cats need about 4 ounces of water for every five pounds of lean body weight each day, and wet food is one of the most natural ways to supply it. According to Cornell University’s Feline Health Center, wet food can contain up to 80% water, compared with a maximum of about 10% in commercial dry food, according to Royal Canin’s Veterinary Academy, and cats that eat wet food may drink less from their bowls because so much of their water arrives with the meal.

That also makes hydration easy to miss, since a full water bowl says little about a cat that takes in most of its water at mealtime. Yumshare Daily Feast brings that part of the day into view: by recording each meal and how it went, it gives owners a clearer picture of what their cat is taking in through its meals, and a better basis for judging whether it is getting enough water.

Every Meal, Watched Over and Recorded

Automatic meal delivery serves each meal on the app-set schedule, while the AI camera captures images of the food in the bowl before and after feeding, so owners can review the images in the app to see whether each meal was finished, partly eaten, or left untouched, even when they are away from home. Over time, those records build into a personalized picture of each cat’s diet pattern, showing when it tends to eat and how its mealtimes unfold from one day to the next, and turning the routine of feeding into something owners can actually follow.

In a home with more than one cat, that picture only means something if it belongs to the right cat. The AI camera recognizes which cat is at the bowl and captures the moment intelligently, so a multi-cat household gets a clear view of who ate and when, instead of a single undifferentiated record shared between them.

Pocket Feast: Nutrition Behind Every Meal

A fresh meal is only worth serving if it is also worth eating, and Pocket Feast recipes are made with that in mind. Carefully selected ingredients such as real fish and fish oil in savory chicken broth give each recipe the rich flavor cats love, with essential taurine to support cats of all life stages. Beyond flavor, different recipes bring different benefits: omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids from IFOS 5-star fish oil support healthy skin and a radiant coat, cranberries support urinary tract wellness, and high-protein, high-moisture recipes made for adult cats support daily hydration and a soft, healthy coat.

More Reasons to Love It

  • Pocket Feast Pouches, Made for the Feeder — Dedicated meal pouches work with the NFC recognition system, so loading a new pouch is simple and the feeder always knows which one is in use.
  • Real-Time Monitoring & Two-Way Audio — A live view of the bowl and two-way audio let owners stay part of mealtime from wherever they happen to be.
  • Zero Cleaning, Ultimate Convenience — From sealed dispensing to disposable bowls, every step is designed so that the only thing left to do is enjoy the extra time.

Where It Goes Next: A Feeder That Knows the Meal

Yumshare Daily Feast is a starting point for where PETKIT sees wet food feeding going next. The feeder already knows which pouch was loaded, when it was opened, when each meal is scheduled, and which cat came to eat, and PETKIT’s vision is to bring these records together, so that what was served, when, and how each cat ate can all be recorded and managed in one place, turning the feeding schedule from a routine that is simply carried out into one that owners can see, understand, and adjust over time.

Wet Food, Fresh by Design, on the Way

Yumshare Daily Feast is built on a straightforward conviction that wet food is only worth automating if it stays fresh, and that freshness has to be protected at every stage, from the moment a meal is served to the moment the bowl is cleared away. It reflects what PETKIT has always set out to build, technology that cares about the small details of daily life, so that a cat's meal is as fresh at the end of the day as it was at the start.

Yumshare Daily Feast is on its way, and more details will follow soon. Stay tuned to petkit.com to be among the first to know when it is ready to bring home.
